Four Christmases, Part 2

Anna was beyond excited this Christmas. She even woke in the middle of the night for well over an hour in anticipation. Even so, at 6 am she was happy and smiling and ready to see the packages under our tree. The gift giving and receiving was fun for us all, but the best part of our day was just being at home with each other, no place to go and nothing to do except play with each other and with our toys. We hungrily devoured a late morning pancake breakfast and lunched on sweet and spicy popcorn. Since our dishwasher was on the blink, we skipped preparing an elaborate meal and instead, enjoyed more play time before eating leftover beef bourguignon. The only thing missing was snow, but we still ventured outside for a little fresh air and a family gallop down the street just before dinner. I even squeezed in a short run. We were filled with gratitude for our good fortune and our family.

I rarely capture a smile THIS big on camera. The infamous blow up blue dog that made all other gifts almost irrelevant.

Blake modeling the new bandana Anna and I sewed for him.

1986 Lite Brite - I think Blake and I will be playing with this one a lot.

We need to invest in reusable wrapping paper.

Enjoying a few quiet moments with her new pet fish, named Gill.

Can't wait to see Anna's new blue dog in person...have we named it yet? Could it be "Gil 3"?

Love, Mo D

Love that big smile. I did see it a few times this week-end, and heard her cute laugh.
