This is what our den/TV room looked like for the last seven months (seven months!) since we moved into this house:
We've had boxes and boxes of books stacked up, with no place to put them. For seven months, we've been deliberating about what to do about a bookshelf. They are SO expensive and not really in the budget. We finally found a great option at Ikea for less than $200, so last weekend we picked it up, put it together, and I've been working on unpacking books for the last week. I'm so much happier with this room. We still need to mount the TV on the wall, get another chair (or a love seat), a new lamp, some art work, drapes...none of that will happen for a while, but in the meantime, it's SO much more comfortable!

Gorgeous! Our shelves are from IKEA, too, and we love them. I really like the dramatic paint color in that room, too.
